As you may now know, Fr. Chandy has submitted his resignation as Rector of St. Andrew’s Church effective September 20, 2014. He has accepted a call to Christ Church in Westerly, RI. While we are saddened by his departure, our prayers are with him and his family as we wish him well on the next step in his ministerial journey.
While the departure of a rector can be a confusing and uncertain time in the life of a parish, it can also be an exciting time of refreshment and renewal. We have a wonderful opportunity to examine where we have been, where we are now, and where the Holy Spirit may lead us.
While we can’t predict or see into the future, we can assure you that your wardens and vestry have begun the process of moving forward. Our first step will be meeting with the Bishop and members of the diocesan transition team in early September to find a suitable interim rector.
Once an interim rector is in place, we can then begin the journey of reflection and self-discovery that will lead us to the right candidate who will fit the current and future needs of the parish.
While this work is going on, the pastoral work of St. Andrew’s does not stop. Our leadership is committed, devoted, and available to address your concerns. It is our goal to regularly communicate with you at every step in the journey which we now embark upon. We feel very confident with our combination of committed and skilled leadership and our devoted members, we will emerge a more vital, engaged, and energetic parish.
Again, join with us in wishing Fr. Chandy all the best. Also, please keep our parish, wardens, vestry and staff in your prayers as we begin this exciting journey of refreshment and renewal.
Yours in Faith,
Pat Jackson, Warden Chris Miller, Warden
