St. Andrew’s calls a new Rector.

Dear Friends,

It is with a profound sense of joy and thanksgiving that the Wardens and Vestry announce the election of the Rev. Dr. David L. Snyder to be the XXIII Rector of St. Andrew’s Church. Fr. Snyder is not a stranger to St. Andrew’s; he served faithfully as an associate here from 2009 until 2014 when he then began his assignment as Interim Rector of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Pitman, NJ.
Fr. Snyder and his wife Susan make their home in Burlington, NJ. They are the proud parents of four children: Joshua, Rebecca, Timothy and Zachary, and the grandparents of seven (four boys and three girls).
Fr. Snyder holds an undergraduate degree in education from Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, PA, a Master of Divinity degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Bangor Theological Seminary in Bangor, Maine. He has served as Associate Pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Pottstown, PA; Pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newington, NH; and Pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Nativity in North Conway, NH.
Fr. Snyder began his formal association with the Episcopal Church in August of 2000 when he was called to serve as the part time Rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bridgton, Maine. At the time, he was the first pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to be called to serve an Episcopal Church following the “Called to Common Mission” agreement, which brought the Episcopal Church and the ELCA together in “full communion.” In 2005, he and Susan moved to NJ and he began his work as Church Partnership Officer for World Vision, the largest Christian relief and development organization in the world. In February of 2008, he was officially welcomed into the Episcopal Church and the Diocese of New Jersey and he began his association with St. Andrew’s shortly thereafter.
Our discernment committee interviewed many well qualified candidates from across the country, but felt that Fr. Snyder possessed the right gifts, skills, and attributes to help restore and reenergize our faith community while moving us forward proclaiming the Good News of Our Lord Jesus Christ. We are truly humbled and blessed that God led Fr. Snyder to St. Andrew’s Church and St. Andrew’s Church to Fr. Snyder.
Fr. Snyder’s first day with us will be Tuesday, December 1, 2015. His first services with us will be the weekend of December 5th. Please join with all of us in giving a warm welcome to Fr. Snyder and Susan as they begin their ministry with us.
Attached is a personal greeting from Fr. Snyder. Again, please join us in formally welcoming Fr. Snyder and Susan to St. Andrew’s to give thanks and to celebrate the generous blessings God has bestowed upon us.

Faithfully,
The Wardens and Vestry of St. Andrew’s Church
