The Rev. Dr. David L. Snyder, Rector
January 14th, 2016
Dear Members of Saint Andrew’s Parish,
First of all, let me extend to each of you my very best wishes for a happy, healthy and blessed New Year. Our celebration of the Feast of the Nativity of our Lord was joyous and bright, and now the New Year and the season of Epiphany have arrived and the time for the Annual Congregational Meeting (the bylaws of the parish stipulate that the annual meeting be held each year on the 4th Sunday of January). I am writing to encourage each member of the parish to make a special effort to attend this year’s annual meeting. My sense is that we are at a critical crossroads in the long and distinguished history of this parish. Normally the Rector’s report is something analogous to the President’s annual State of the Union message. This year will be different. Having just begun my ministry as the 23rd Rector, I feel the Rector’s report this year will provide me with a unique opportunity to present, in some detail, my specific plan for the rebuilding of the parish…a plan which will provide the focus of our partnership in ministry for the next 12-18 months. I have spent my first month as your Rector familiarizing myself with the parish and preparing for the Christmas season. I feel that January 24th will mark the official beginning of our ministry together, as we embrace a vision and a plan for ministry which will accomplish our short-term goal of rebuilding the fabric of this remarkable faith community. Your participation in this historic annual meeting (by my calculation, the 250th in the history of Saint Andrew’s parish) will be a powerful sign of your desire to move forward in the fulfillment of our sacred mission here in Mount Holly. Your presence on January 24th will also be a source of encouragement for your new Rector!! Once again, I want to thank you for the opportunity that you have extended in calling me to be your Rector. I am excited and deeply grateful and I firmly believe that some of our best and most fulfilling days of ministry together are in the future…a future which begins for us with the Annual Meeting on January 24th.
