OUTREACH NEWS
The Outreach Committee has decided on two programs that we would
like to introduce to our congregation over the summer. If you
can help with either or both projects, we will be able to help
people in Providence House, the "Safe House" for abused women
and children, by providing them with children's new underwear.
When the family leaves a dangerous situation, they have just the
clothing on their backs. The boys and girls desperately need our
help in supplying them with new underwear. All sizes, for both
boys and girls, are needed. If you can help by purchasing a
package of new underwear, and bringing it to church, we will
have a box in the Narthex throughout July and August. It will be
taken to Providence House in time for the new school year to
begin.
The children of Mount Holly will no longer be given basic school
supplies by the school system, as has been the policy in past
years. Many families in our area with several children will find
this quite a hardship this year. During the month of July and
into August, Walmart, Target, Shoprite, CVS, Staples, to name a
few of the stores, run great sales on crayons, pencils, glue,
notebooks, etc. We would like to be able to take a box of
supplies to Brainerd and Folwell Elementary Schools, from the
parishioners of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, to give some
relief to the families with children in both schools. Anything
you can do to help, will be deeply appreciated. Again, boxes
will be placed in the Narthex, labeled "School Supplies". Thank
you for any help you may be able to give!
HELP NEEDED: To clean and paint the Sunday School Classrooms on
Saturday, July 18 and 25 from 9 am to 1pm. If you can lend a
hand please call Stacy McBride at 609-914-0778 or Vanessa
Meredith at 856-669-4738. All help will be greatly appreciated.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Moorestown Visiting Nurses & Hospice is
seeking caring and compassionate volunteers to visit terminally
ill patients in their home or care facility. Training is
provided and volunteers can give as little or as much time as
they wish.
Volunteers are also needed for office work, community outreach,
and bereavement.
Please contact Volunteer Manager by calling 856-552-1300 or
emailing volunteer@moorestownvna.org. We look forward to hearing
from you!
THANK YOU: I'd like to thank everyone that responded to my plea
for help for Heather Earle's son and family, who had suffered
the loss of their home and ALL of their possesions, in a recent
fire. The gifts that you brought into church or dropped off at
my house were greatly appreciated, as was the cash that is being
used to purchase a gift card to their local Walmart. At the
present time, although they still need furniture, etc., we will
not continue collecting household items, as the Red Cross has
set them up in a very small apt., and they just have no place to
fit it all in, nor do they have a storage area. Again, I can't
begin to express their (and my) thanks, for such a wonderful
outpouring of generosity from our congregation! Carol Kensler
