Morning and Evening Prayer are a part of the Anglican/Episcopal tradition dating back centuries.  It is a form of worship that does not involve Eucharist, but instead focuses on meditating on the Word and prayers.  Morning prayer was the time of the day when the community gathered to pray to begin their day; affirming their faith, praying to God, and listening to scripture. Same with Evening prayer--prayers, scripture, and affirmation at the end of the day.  Even when they could not gather together these prayers were used to unite them--they were a community at prayer continually.

Assist us mercifully, O Lord, in these our supplications and prayers, and dispose the way of your servants towards the attainment of everlasting salvation; that, among all the changes and chances of this mortal life, they may ever be defended by your gracious and ready help; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
